AdLab Principal Authors Book
By ENTREPRENEUR

Clifton, NJ- AdLab principal Barry Cohen says he's asking for more "Andy Warhol minutes." The NJ native says he's "Used up his fifteen minutes of fame." The comment came after Cohen and his company were featured in a recent issue of ENTREPRENEUR magazine.
Cohen operates AdLab, an ad agency and audio-video firm with his partner and friend of twenty years, former Philadelphia radio personality Bill Bird. The magazine article highlighted Cohen's forthcoming book, The Truth About Advertsing (Entrepreneur Press, slated for publication in May of 2001).
"The book is a no-nonsense, nuts and bolts guide for small businesses, telling them what works and what doesn't in advertising--everything from how to select advertising counsel, to how to create an ad that really pulls, to some lesser known techniques that boost results cost-effectively," according to Cohen. The article, appearing on page 56 of the September issue of Entrepreneur, gives a synopsis of the book.
Buzz and excitement are already gathering around the book, months prior to publication. "The Truth About Advertising" has already received endorsements from several high-profile journalists and commentators.
Ken and Daria Dolan, authors and nationally syndicated radio and TV program hosts, remarked, "Don't miss 'The Truth About Advertising' if you want a no-nonsense, simple guide to avoiding common and costly advertising campaign mistakes."
Ray Hoffman of Business Week magazine, appearing daily on the ABC Radio Networks, had this to say about the book: "In an age when the real 'ad people' have largely been replaced by film school grads, Barry Cohen's combination of experience, imagination, and just plain good sense offers a welcome reminder that, yes, the right ad can do the right job."
Joe Connolly, business reporter for WCBS Radio in New York, commented, "Advertising should be fun or interesting, and this book appears to be both those things itself. It has good advertising ideas that don't cost a lot of money!"
Cohen is a frequent speaker at Chambers of Commerce and business expo's. In his words, "In this case, the tail wagged the dog", since the book grew out of the talks and seminars. He is a graduate of Kean University, cum laude. Before starting Adlab with his partner, Cohen previously served as General Manager of radio station WKCW-AM in Warrenton, virginia, as well as an Account Executive for New York stations WPAT AM/FM and WOR-AM.
AdLab has increased business volume for a variety of clients in the alternative medicine and nutritional supplement industry; travel and tourism, as well as home improvement companies. The company plans, creates and places advertising throughout the U.S. In addition, AdLab produces educational and presentation tapes in its own on-site facility.
"The Truth About Advertising" is expected to be available in chain bookstores, selected office superstores, through Entrepreneur magazine and its website, Entrepreneur.com and at Entrepreneur's small business expo's and seminars.
